The AFAWA Finance Series event was held in Kinshasa, DRC, from September 27th to 29th, 2022. The African Guarantee Fund (AGF), in partnership with the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Congolese Banking Association (ACB), aims to increase access to finance for women-led small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the DRC through the AFAWA program. The event included opening ceremonies, panel discussions, workshops, and training sessions, focusing on reducing risks for SMEs, addressing their financial and non-financial needs, and promoting gender-responsive economic development in the DRC. The report highlights the signing of a tripartite agreement between the AfDB, AGF, and a major commercial bank in the DRC, RawBank, to strengthen capacity and support women entrepreneurs.
